Well, off to a good start to the second season! Thanks to everybody that uploaded links, appreciate it!

The Fable (2024)
Wizzdom 0 points 11 days ago.

One of the best anime to come out not just this season but perhaps in the last decade. A rare and much needed Seinen done right. Action, humor, and a level of ‘creepy’ sophistication reminiscent of Evangelion, without the sci-fi overtones. It’s a winner.

The worst one yet! Wow!? Just when I think remakes can’t get any worse. 1/5✨ Total gobbledigook.

The American (2024)
Researcher 1 points 11 days ago. (Contains Spoilers)

It’s based on a true story so I’m guessing the main points might be accurate. However, the sense of entitlement in Ryder’s portrayal of Womack was a huge turn-off for me. I marked it as “Dropped” (my message to me that the acting sucked!) about 3/4 of the way through. I disliked how she quickly resorted to a fraudulent marriage for citizenship! It’s illegal here in the US, but even if it’s not in the CIS, it’s still shameful. I was pissed at her, feeling ashamed at what it makes us look and what she did to Nikolai! Who’s to blame? The acting for trying to make a Romanesque statue with play-doh? Or the writers for trying to make Womack out to be a victim while at the same time a calculating wench and a talentless entitled brat? Not even interested in finding out about Womack, that’s how annoyed I am! I still watched to the end to make sure my despise was well deserved…it was!! 1 of 5 stars ‘cause there’s no negative star rating.

Star Trek: Discovery (2017) S5 E9
tabularascal 1 points 11 days ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

This week’s episode of Star Trek: Discovery includes a nifty little homage to (or total ripoff of) The Three Body Problem.

There is one other problem. Nearly falling into a black hole should have put them behind about 50 years in the race to the Macguffin. Or since this is Star Trek, thrown them back in time to 1967!

DownrightDebonaire -2 points 11 days ago.

Eh that’s a pretty big generalized leap. There’s a lot more to 3 Body Problem than what was focused on in the black hole anomalies in tonight’s episode. To say it ripped it off — it’s not like they folded a sheet of paper and stuck a pencil through it to describe folding space or time is all I’m saying.

Challengers (2024)
SheWatches 1 points 11 days ago.

If you are in to tennis, you might like this movie. It had all the trimmings; friendship, betrayal, exciting matches and a satisfying ending that I can’t tell you anything about other than it was good.

Atlas (2024)
SheWatches 6 points 12 days ago.

Jennifer Lopez did a great job on this movie. There were a good bit of cliches but the characters used them well. I enjoyed the action in this movie and it had me cheering for the good robot - not sure if you would actually call that a robot; it’s the thing you see on the movie poster. I want one of those! I’m not talking about a bathtub toy that squirts water, I want a life-sized one that I can run up and down the road haha. I recommend this movie for a watch.

Davidleefl43 6 points 11 days ago.

Yeah I agree she did a really good job
I think people in the comment just don’t like Jennifer Lopez because she was on point I was expecting way worse and it surprised me

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024)
Boraes 1 points 19 days ago.

Shamelss use of the brand name to fill seats and make money. Kinda hard to be a Mad Max film without him… Just a post apocalyptic action film about female empowerment, which is cool, but that’s not Mad Max. Should own it as an original or actually have MM in it.

Rodreko 1 points 11 days ago.

They didn’t do a good job filling seats. It’s opening weekend over Memorial Day and two days are already gone and they have only made $10,200,000. OOF!

I’m having a brain fart here. The scene where Cartman is trying to get the cartridge on the truck hood, what film is that a parody of? Terminator 2? Mad Max? I just can’t palce it.

The UnXplained: Mysteries of the Universe (2024)
Speed711 1 points 11 days ago.

Didn’t realize they started a new series of this with a new name so it didn’t hit my watch guide. I’m in.

Civil War (2024)
SheWatches 1 points 11 days ago.

Civil War had just a hint of reality in it with things that I’ve heard mentioned on social media. Dystopian/possibility? Hard to tell these days just how far our government might go according to conspiracy theorists anyway. I liked the way it was filmed, the topic was interesting without leading you to conclusion. I mean, you couldn’t really guess what was going to happen and it was original. I liked it more than I thought I would.

The American Society of Magical Negroes (2024)

The social acceptable hypocrisy of ‘It’s ok to use racist stereotypes and humour as long as it’s about white people’ really makes me gag.

grasshopper rex 1 points 11 days ago*.

It’s impossible to take that criticism seriously when you still have people clowning themselves by flying Confederate battle flags.

This movie was way better then I thought it was going to be. I would say watch it if you are in arms about it. If anything it’s a great popcorn flick to relax to.

The American Society of Magical Negroes (2024)
SheWatches 1 points 11 days ago.

It was okay. I didn’t care for the plot because it felt a little cringe to me, but I knew what it was about going in. It has some really funny spots and those really carried the movie. The actors were good and I enjoyed watching them. Good for a one time watch for me 3/5.

newman 3 points 11 days ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

She happens to appear as a guest in all of his movies. It is well known they even deep fake her face away if there’s a kissing scene, it must be her, they they replace her face with whoever..
Haha.. I honestly kinda respect that, just don’t wanna see her in the movies for some unknown reason inside of me 😂

Surprise surprise, she plays 2 different roles in this movie 😂
I am also not very convinced by Chris playing a villain… perhaps it’s just me stuck with him as a the good guy? Idek.. The movie left me confused.

i didnt realize it was Chris Hemsworth until he spoke rofl,
Anya Taylor-Joy dont really know her, but i liked her role/acting,
supercool that she didnt have a license but learned to do a J-turn on her first day of stunt school.
no clue that Elsa Pataky is married to Chris, didnt even notice her in the movie,
do feel the 2.28hrs was way too long

Just started watching and seeing Chris’s wife, again, in his movies? Really? It is a turn off to continue tbh.. just my personal opinion. The woman is too sticky at this point.. (personal opinion, again…)

Godzilla Minus One (2023)
Luvlinguae 1 points 11 days ago.

I was not expecting this film to be so good. I was really impressed. Not only tons of old-school action, but it addressed difficult issues of honor, dignity, and social responsibility in a country already on its knees. Absolutely worth the watch.

Dexter: New Blood (2021)
Researcher 1 points 12 days ago.

Actually, I was cringing at the thought of that kid leading a spin-off. Granted, didn’t think they’d continue with Hall , but I don’t think Harrison has the gravitas needed for the role of a serial killer. Having said that, definitely looking forward to a prequel, maybe even several prequel seasons. IMHO, Slater’s casting bodes well and I’ve enjoyed Patrick Gibson’s work, so it’s all up to the writers now.

ThinMan 1 points 11 days ago.

haha @gravitas.

In terms of everyday life, I try to keep it positive. Mental states affect so much. Had never considered worrying about different timelines although some physicist believe it is possible. I do wonder about different realms of existance within this timeline.
I wouldn’t worry about living in Maine. Horrible things have happened most everywhere in this lifetime, really. I live by a creek that turned red with blood during the civil war.
Think happy thoughts:)

greyfur 3 points 12 days ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Oh, the Maine thing was a joke, been here 24 years now. But in all honesty, if I’m ever in a car with someone, and we pass a sign that says ‘Welcome to Derry’ or ‘Salem’s Lot’, you can bet I’m getting that car turned around right fast, just on Generals…🤣

I was expecting it to be better a whole hour on her story as a little girl was kinda boring
but it’s was okey didn’t like it as much as the old ones tho and it wasn’t as great as Fury Road!
I feel like Anya wasn’t the right pick for this!

Ps did anyone see the scene with mad max looking over the desert

hellsingfan01 5 points 12 days ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Yes I saw his cameo but it is a spoiler as for the film spending alot of time on her as a child that really wasn’t an issue for me personally as it was kind of needed to help to better understand the character but I do agree with the fact that this film isn’t as good as Fury Road was tho.
