Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
Rasnac 10 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Discovery is not a bad show; but it is not Star Trek. Do you wanna know how I know? I just realized we are in the third season and I still dont know almost any of the bridge crews names. Any character other than Michael, Saru, Tilly and Stamets might as well be extras; they are a little more than window dressing. A ST show lives and dies by the uality of its crew. Viewers fall in love with the vastly different and well written characters, their overall dynamic, little moments between them, and the feeling of family. Just think of TNG, DS9, or even ST:Enterprise… Such a great difference from Discovery. Discovery on the other hand is the story of Michael Burnham, anyone else is just supporting characters that are as important to the story as their relative distance to Michael. Her universe hopping pseudo-mom, her foster brother, her Vulcan dad, her Klingon boyfriend, her funny roommate etc… They are not characters on themselves, they are just story elements to support Michaels journey. And that is why Discovery is not a Star Trek show.

Black Widow (2021)

Great movie. This movie should have been made much earlier though.

Madame Web (2024)
Rasnac 8 points 1 month ago.

I really did not get why people hated this movie so much. I watched it and it is a really enjoyable fun thriller/superhero movie. I think the outrage comes from fans having so high expectations from comic book movies nowadays. But not every superhero flick has to be a masterpiece that redefines the genre. It was a good solid movie, and that is good enough for me.

Star Trek: Discovery (2017) S3 E7
Rasnac 7 points 3 years ago.

Why the hell everything has to be about Burnham and her emotional journey? Why does every episode have to be a prolonged therapy session for Burnham, even a sensitive diplomatic mission must turn into one? I cant take it anymore. I am a completionist by nature but I am really struggling to finish this season.

Justice League: Warworld (2023)

Sound uality is terrible.

DC's Stargirl (2020)
Rasnac 4 points 3 years ago.

First few episodes were too teenage drama for me, but this show is starting to get real good.

The Kid Detective (2020)
Rasnac 4 points 3 years ago.

Very interesting neo-noir. It gets really dark towards the third act. Solid performance by Adam Brody.

Three Colors: Blue (1993)
Rasnac 4 points 3 years ago.

I first watched it as a kid and fell in love. I believe I was 10. Since then every time I watched this movie I am mesmerised.

The Death of Stalin (2017)
Rasnac 4 points 3 years ago.

A masterpiece of black comedy. Proof that real life is always much more absurd than fiction ever dares to be.

Birds of Prey (2020)
Rasnac 4 points 3 years ago.

Not every superhero movie has to be a ground shaking, record breaking masterpiece. It was a good solid movie with great acting.

Black Death (2010)
Rasnac 6 points 4 years ago.

I don’t get why nobody mentions this movie when English folk horror is discussed. It is an underrated masterpiece of that small yet powerful subgenre.

American Gods (2017) S3 E6
Rasnac 5 points 3 years ago.

At this point, I am only watching this show because I am a completionist.

Tusk (2014)
Rasnac 5 points 4 years ago.

Definitely a cult classic. Kevin Smiths bravest movie. And a tour de force performance from late Michael Parks. 5/5

The First Deadly Sin (1980)
Rasnac 3 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

It is a really good solid detective movie. Sinatra suprised me with his acting chops. He kinda plays against type in this movie; instead of the hardboiled wiseguy detective trope he is known for, he plays a smart, calm, charming older gentleman detective with real emotions and inner struggle which reminded me of Morgan Freeman in Seven.

Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)
Rasnac 3 points 3 years ago.

It is so dumb, but it is also so much fun.

Dave Made a Maze (2017)
Rasnac 3 points 3 years ago.

This small indie movie has more imagination and creativity than those hundreds of hollywood movies the studios push out everyday.

Clerks II (2006)
Rasnac 3 points 12 hours ago.

This movie is underappreciated. It is soooo funny and joyful.

Much Ado About Nothing (1993)
Rasnac 3 points 3 years ago.

One of the best Shakespearean adaptations out there.

Richard III (1956)
Rasnac 3 points 3 years ago.

Wanna see Sir Laurence Olivier being deliciously evil for more than two and a half hours? Well, this is your lucky day!

The Intern (2015)
Rasnac 3 points 2 years ago.

From the premise, I expected an enjoyable yet formulaic movie. But I was pleseanty surprised that it is so much more. The script and acting really elevates this movie to a much more nuanced and smart storytelling. This movie does not make the obvious easier choices; but always goes for the more realistic option.

Guys and Dolls (1955)

Ask yourself: do you wanna watch Marlon Brando sing and dance? You know you do. ;)

Shameless (2011) S11 E12
Rasnac 3 points 3 years ago*.

Farewell Gallaghers. I admit this finale brought tears to my eyes…

The Tick (2001)
Rasnac 3 points 3 years ago.

This show was ahead of its time. It was like Seinfeld with superheroes. It had a lot potential, and very smart writing. It could have been a big hit if it was just aired 10-15 years later.

Stranger Than Fiction (2006)
Rasnac 3 points 3 years ago.

Underappreciated modern classic

Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part One (2024)
Rasnac 3 points 3 months ago.

You might think its funny, but this movie reminded me of Slaughterhouse-Five movie(1872) adapted from the famous Kurt Vonnegut novel.

Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part Two (2024)
Rasnac 3 points 4 days ago.

This is a weird, almost esoteric storyline. Very unconventional for a superhero comics animation. I am really digging it.

Damsel (2024)
Rasnac 4 points 1 month ago. (Contains Spoilers)

If you expect a fun, light Y.A. fantasy adventure, do not watch this movie. This movie is brutal. It is closer to a horror movie than a fairy tale. It honestly felt like watching Ripley trying to survive against the xenomorph in the movie Alien sometimes. But dont take my description as a negative either. Cause I fucking loved this movie. I am not the biggest fan of Millie Bobby Brown, but she is phenomenal in this movie. Her character is anything but a Mary Sue. She makes mistakes, struggles to find her courage, suffers terribly. And the movie makes you feel the fear, desperation, and phsyical and emotional pain from the terrible ordeal she is trying to survive. The atmosphere is clostrophobic and very scary. The dragon design is really creative. Every actor in the cast bring their A game, especially Robin Wright. As a sword and sorcery fan, this movie exceeded my every expectation.

Star Trek: Picard (2020)
Rasnac 3 points 2 years ago.

Only thing I expect from this shows to find a way to restore ST:TNG-DS9 era Klingons to the canon status. It does not even have to be an arc about them, just show some proper klingons walk by in the background or something.

The Virgin Suicides (2000)
Rasnac 3 points 3 years ago.

This movie devistated me. I am a grown ass man and I could not stop crying whole day after watching this movie.

Gimme a Break! (1981)
Rasnac 3 points 3 years ago.

I used to love watching this sit-com as a kid.

Vivarium (2020)
Rasnac 3 points 3 years ago*.

It is a brilliant movie; but it is also seriously soul crushing. And I mean really really soul crushing, depressive, dark, miserable, sufficating, psychological torture movie. Acting is brilliant; the script is one of the most creative I have watched in a long while. And it is a deceptive movie: starts very light and happy, slowly sucks you in with its very original high sci-fi concept, plays with your expectations as a viewer. By the time you realize how dark it turns it is too late. If you can not handle watching Funny Games by Michael Haneke, dont watch this movie.

Red Rock West (1993)
Rasnac 3 points 4 years ago.

One of the best underrated film noirs. Should be a cult classic.

Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 (2024)
Rasnac 3 points 1 month ago.

Proof that just because you can do something, does not necesserily mean that you should.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2024)
Rasnac 3 points 2 months ago*.

It is unbeliveable. Million times better than the mediocre action movie it shares its name with. And it has absolutely nothing to do with that forgettable movie. Actually if I had to compare it to anything, it would be Killing Eve. Maya Erskine should be a A-lister movie star. She is that good.

Come and See (1985)
Rasnac 3 points 4 years ago.

Absolute masterpiece

Powers (2015)
Rasnac 3 points 5 years ago.

It was great show; way ahead of its time. They should bring it back.

Suspiria (1977)
Rasnac 3 points 4 years ago.

A masterpiece of Italian expressionist cinema. Giallo at its best. Possibly one of the best art direction and set design works in movie history.

Ordinary Love (2020)
Rasnac 3 points 4 years ago.

It must have been cathartic for Mr.Neeson to play this role after his wife Natasha Richardson’s sudden and tragic death.

Fargo (2014) S4 E11
Rasnac 2 points 3 years ago.

I think this was the best season of Fargo yet; but unfortunately I am afraid it did not create much buzz; which makes me afraid about the future of this phenomenal TV series.

Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens (2020)
Rasnac 2 points 3 years ago.

I was supposed to watch Tenet, but I binged the whole first season of Nora instead. Totally worthed.

Teen Titans Go! (2013) S6 E37
Ingrid Goes West (2017)
Rasnac 2 points 3 years ago.

Aubrey Plaza should have won an Oscar for this movie.

Jules and Jim (1962)
Rasnac 2 points 3 years ago.

I know it is a modern classic of the New Wave; and I appreciate it objectively. But I really can not bring myself to like this movie.

The Flash (2023)
Rasnac 2 points 9 months ago.

It is a suprisingly good solid movie.

Face Off (2011)
Rasnac 2 points 3 years ago*.

It was a great show about an art form we rarely see in the mainstream and the creative process. I wish it was still on.

Plus One (2019)
Rasnac 2 points 1 month ago.

That is a surprisingly great movie.

Lord of Illusions (1995)

Underrated horror masterpiece.
