Armageddon (1998)
Badger -1 points 4 years ago.

Please google, “scientific mistakes in Armageddon”. There are over 160 (you spotted the most glaringly obvious but there are a LOT more)! And that’s just the actual scientific errors, not the logical incongruities/bizarre decisions which make no sense (say training oil drillers to be astronauts instead of the other fing way around. I don’t pretend to be either an oil driller or an astronaut but I’m pretty certain which one’s more difficult). I don’t know which lists of great 90s films you’re looking at but this film’s not usually on them at all. For example: Pulp Fiction, The Matrix, Terminator 2, Jurassic Park, the Shawshank Redemption, Goodfellas, the Silence of the Lambs, Schindler’s List, Titantic, Seven, Forrest Gump, the Sixth Sense, Fight Club, the Big Lebowski, Reservoir Dogs, Trainspotting, Good Will Hunting, Fargo, American Beauty, Groundhog Day. That’s 20 films from the 90s picking randomly and in no specific order which are widely regarded as better than this one. I could’ve easily done another 20 without mentioning this film.

Canuckian 0 points 4 years ago.

Wow dude, you read WAAAY too much into my comment lol. My comment is my own, i never claimed it was “scientifically accurate” either and i am not going to pick apart a decent sci-fi FANTASY flick to its minute details because I actually ENJOY watching this movie…the fire/oxygen was meant as a “glaringly” obvious oversight that almost ANYONE would and should have noticed and then forgot about because it takes nothing from the over all story, i just can’t help think about it every time i watch the movie is all. For future, you do NOT need to pick apart my or anyone elses comment to satisfy your own desire to show me/us how much you love to analyze movies for accuracy both scientific and politically. If you watch all movies like that, you won’t enjoy them as much. It IS FICTION after all, right? I appreciate a bit of realism like everyone else, but i also know how to suspend it when i walk into the Theater. Your list of other 90’s movies is good, i love them all as well only having not seen Fargo, Big Lebowski and American Beauty, i have seen all the rest of course.. Curious though..you mention Groundhog Day..fantastic movie of course, Bill Murray at his best…but where is the scientific acccuracy in that movie? Time Travel? Time LOOP? CRAZY! You would almost have to “suspend your belief” to enjoy that movie huh? See my point? Anyway not trying to argue with man, just trying to say, don’t pick apart other peoples comments to either prove them wrong because their opinion doesn’t match yours, know what i mean? Anyway, cheers mate.

Canuckian 1 points 4 years ago.

Whoah! The plot thickens! IMO this is the best Cop show out atm, love watching anything with Nathan Fillion in it, he always brings it to every show he is on, and this is no exception. Great episode!

The Guns of Navarone (1961)
Canuckian 1 points 5 years ago.

Never seen this one..thanks Marlboro for the great review, i thoroughly enjoyed this classic. Love War movies based on True events, especially those that were heroic like this one..them original G-men, men of true grit and conviction…I am telling you, they were cut from a different cloth back then..back when Men were Men, not the lady boys you see nowadays who get offended if you disagree with them and need safe spaces if you hurt their feelings…Ugh.

Few episodes back they did some “Galaxy’s Edge” product placement. The marketing is strong with this one.

I totally missed that LOL

A Christmas Carol (2019) S1 E1
Canuckian 1 points 4 years ago.

There are only 3 chapters, right? If so, then all 3 are here on episode/chapter 1…using the mixdrop link, it is 2hrs and 58 min long, so that would be the entire thing :) At this point we had to pause after watching the first 2 chapters, we are going to watch the last one tomorrow night, but let me tell you, we are REALLY enjoying this! It is the same great story, but with a much darker tone…not evil by any means, don’t get me wrong, but it deals with “sensitive” subject matter at times and the audience gets to see just how bad Scrooge was during his galavanting with the Ghosts…he did some pretty terrible stuff, much worse than anything Alistair Sims Scrooge did by any means lol..anyways, my point is, the is a much more modern, adult take on the story, and i think they absolutely nailed it..they didn’t rewrite it at all, it isn’t a “re-imagining” like Hollywood likes to do nowadays, it is more of an upgrade i think. Anyways, give it a go, you shant be disappointed! Think this might be added to to the MUST WATCH Christmas movies list we have every year! (only this one will be for after the kids go to bed lol)

Payback (1999)
Canuckian 1 points 4 years ago.

I agree that this is an amazing movie..i ALSO highly suggest “Get the Gringo”..it has a similar theme to “Payback” in that it is a revenge plot…it is one of my top Mel Gibson movies as well…If you loved this movie, i am SURE you will love “Get the Gringo”. https://www.primewire.li/movie/798666-watch-get-the-gringo

Battlefield Earth (2000)
footshot 1 points 4 years ago.

Thats theone , Highly reccomend it, theres humour hidden there in the book ,.. like the antihero Solt an griis [salt & grease] for instance, wouldnt translate to film , awesome story tho

Canuckian 1 points 4 years ago.

Soltann Gris, that was his name…yeah he was awesome…Since the entire series was written from HIS perspective for the most part, you really got to see his character change through the series..when he got kidnapped by those lesbians and they kept him as a sex slave (although lesbian sadists, they couldn’t ignore the very LARGE “appendage” he gave himself when he chose his human look before they sent him to Earth..omg that entire part of the story had me ROLLIN LOL…i am seriously considering going out and finding that series again and giving it a third read…its been about 15 yrs since i last read it lol. Cheers footshot

The Mandalorian (2019) S2 E8

Well he was wearing the glove like Luke does because he lost his hand by his father. Anakin’s lightsaber was a different color too.

Canuckian 1 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Don’t forget R2D2 was with him…of course it was Luke lol..i can’t believe anyone would even doubt that, i mean, they have been talking about Alderaan being blown up by the first Death Star and the NEW Republic etc etc…i think some people just don’t pay attention lol

Vikings (2013) S6 E2
Canuckian 0 points 4 years ago.

YES! Dropped the first two episodes already! MAN this made my day! So sad that this is reportedly the final season, i am REALLY going to miss this show…so brutal, so real…I really miss Ragnar, but Bjorn is something else i tell ya. Can’t WAIT to see what happens this season!

His Dark Materials (2019)
Siks 7 points 4 years ago*.

It is. The Golden Compass was book one of a trilogy, His Dark Materials. The movie kind of flopped because the story is brilliant and touches on almost every aspect of life, love, war, religion and truth, and two hours just isn’t enough time to do it justice. I’m glad they’re making a series so they can tell the story right

Canuckian -1 points 4 years ago.

Thanks for clarifying that Siks…i rather enjoyed the Golden Compass even though it did feel rushed and that there was a LOT missing…even for someone who never read the books it was based on, i got the feeling that a lot was left out…i echo the sentiment that making it into a series is a brilliant idea to allow them to fully explore the source material, providing BBC doesn’t stick their fingers too deep and change any of the source material to make it more “PC” since we all know the BBC is at the forefront of being “Progressive”…they completely ruined the last season of Dr.Who for me..not because the doctor was female, but because they were so blatantly pushing an anti-west agenda where alll things “American” are BAD…surely i wasn’t the only who saw that…anyways, after a few episodes i just couldn’t do it any more…it made me really sad because Dr.Who was one of my absolute FAVORITE shows and the BBC fukking ruined it. ugh. anyways, sorry about the rant lol..i hold out hope for this series since i have only heard all good things!

Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989)
Canuckian 1 points 4 years ago*.

Man, talk about a walk down memory lane here with all the recent 80’s/early 90’s movies being uploaded LOL..LOVEIN it!! This one right here though..Bill and Ted…what can i say that hasn’t been said a million times about this classic….well, on a personal note then, i had a bit of a crush on “Joan of Arc” in this movie when i was a teenager LOL. Heard they are making a third stallment with Keanu AND Winters reprising their roles..unfortunatley Rufus won’t be there due to Carlins death years ago, but still, I am apprehensive about it…the first two movies, this one and Bogus Journey were both great, this one being the best though…i am thinking maybe they should have left it well enough alone, but, i guess we will have to wait and see…at least Keanu and Alex are coming back, ad i am sure Keanu (due to his star power, something he didn’t have much of back when this movie first came out) will allow him some creative input and hopefully keep this new third movie from going off the rails and ruining what was a great duo of movies…anyways, if you haven’t watched Bill and Ted, then what are you waiting for lol…watch it NOW lol

Das Boot (2018)
Canuckian 1 points 5 years ago.

Oh WOW, never heard of this 8 part series, but the movie from the 80’s starring Jurgen Prochnow is one of my all time favorite war movies EVER..i grew up watching Das Boot with my Dad, and i always remembered the ending most of all as being particularily emotional and riveting. I am VERY much looking forward to watching this series! Thank You!

The Internet's Own Boy: The Story of Aaron Swartz (2014)
finigan1 2 points 5 years ago.

A tragic story about a DMCA pirate who was more robin hood then anything else. Dmca has become a plague of sorts, what you can and cannot do,what you can know and what you cannot know.So much information that could change the world and save peoples lives, hidden away unless you pay a hefty price for it. The information he leaked was not wiki leaks, movies or anything of that sort,it was medical, scientific, etc, written by some of the best minds on the planet that could very well change the world. The freedom of information is a joke, when someone has the solution to a really big problem, but it is all suppressed because people want their money first. If only those idiots would realize that that information given freely may save their selves or someone they love one day. In the spirit of Aaron Swartz I have to say ,all you billionaire copyright company’s and organizations that only care about the bottom line, can go fuck yourselves! And they will be when the information they didn’t share , ends up biting them in the ass.

City of Angels (1998)

I have not seen Willow but I have been hearing about it for many years! I will have to give it a go now. Smiles~

Canuckian 1 points 4 years ago.

https://www.primewire.li/movie/215664-watch-willow Here is a direct link to Willow Julianna ;) If you love fantasy ie. Lord of the Rings and older films like Legend with a young Tom cruise and Tim Curry as The Devil (one of the BEST costume effects i have EVER seen even to this day!) then you will love Willow…the CGI is a bit outdated (still using some Stop-motion i think with some early CGI) but it doesn’t detract whatsoever from the great story. It has remained one of my childhood faves to this day..i hope you enjoy it as much as i have over the years..

The Recall (2017)

An American Werewolf in London (1981)
ShugarCat 2 points 4 years ago.

This classic film is considered one of the best horror films of its time, not because of the great acting involved, and it was good, or the story it tells which is good, or even the soundtrack which is also top notch. It is because of the special effects used. For the first time in the history of film the audience was shown a life like (real looking) transition from man to werewolf. Jaws dropped, gasps were heard, ooos and ahs took place as the audience watched the transformation up on the screen … and a ‘Classic’ was born. It is a really good watch and if you have not seen it definitely check it out. I am not a big fan of the horror genre for many reasons but I sure liked this film. Its not scary at all, well I did not find it to be anyway. Its more of a comedy fantasy with a werewolf tossed in to raise it to a horror category.

Canuckian 1 points 4 years ago.

I fully agree with everything you said about this movie, especially the realistic nature of the Transformation scene…i would think that were Werewolves real, this is what a transformation would look like irl and i think that is what REALLY set this movie apart from others in the genre like The Howling for example. The comedic elements in this movie are spaced out well and do not detract at ALL from the plot, if anything, they ADD to the overall story and make it that much more believable considering the characters being portrayed in this movie. Cheers ShugarCat!

Four seasons up tomorrow. Watched a couple - These are hilarious. lol

Canuckian 1 points 4 years ago.

LOL this was my absolute FAVORITE show on TV back in the day..never missed it and i always watched it with a group of friends…the voice overs are just brilliant and super funny and downright dirty at times LOL..this show never gets old, you can literally watch any episode at any time and enjoy it as much as the first time you watched it lol..so you’ve never seen this show until recently then? Well, i am glad you get too, and THANK YOU for doing what you are doing…i have had a heck of a time finding anywhere to watch this lol…i have already watched all that you added earlier today, and am awaiting more anxiously lol..Thanks Gypsy, you are da best! ;)

Batman Begins (2005)
Canuckian 1 points 5 years ago.

Still a great movie that I have watched dozens and dozens of times….then somedays you want something a little lighter hearted so you go watch the original Batman with Nicholson and Keaton…today there really is a Batman for all occasions LOL. This one is still one of my faves though. That deeper gravelly voice Bale used was perfect for Batman, and unlike Afflecks Batman, Bale didn’t need some electronic help…that was one of the things i didn’t like about his Batman.

Heavenly Sword (2015)
Canuckian 1 points 4 years ago.

I get the feeling Thomas Jane phoned in his lines here…guess he needed a quick $100 or something..he had like 3 lines and he sounded like he was half asleep..i only point this out because his name is prominent here which it shouldn’t be..besides that, i enjoyed this..never played the game but might look into it after watching this. Pretty cool story and animation and the fight scenes weren’t too bad either…pretty good for passing a lazy Sunday morning. I give it a 6/10 Cheers!

Well, this show was a most pleasant surprise, i was NOT disappointed after seeing the trailers for this awhile back. Hope we get a second season!

City of Angels (1998)
Julianna 2 points 4 years ago.

Again, I absolutely agree! Beautiful film! The soundtrack itself is almost a stand alone! Wonderful!

Canuckian 1 points 4 years ago.

lol, nice to meet someone who has similar appreciation for certain movies lol..saw your reply on a comment i made on Ghost and the Darkness about the Lions of Tsavo…i still to this day think that is one of the best movies of that year and one of Kilmers defining roles after Halliday, Iceman and of course, my fave, Madmartigan (have you seen the movie Willow by chance?)

Running Scared (2006)

This is an EXCELLENT movie!! A thrill ride from beginning to end! Non-stop, edge of your seat stuff right here.

Game of Thrones (2011) S8 E5
Canuckian 1 points 5 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Well DAMN. I am disappointed in the deaths this 2nd last episode..some of the characters who we have been waiting YEARS to die horribly just basically winked out of existence pretty much…no satisfaction at ALL…now i see why some fans are petitioning to have this final season redone with different writers lol…this show has always played with emotions and your fave characters in that “noone is safe”, but this is taking it a bit too far…they spend years building up emotions for different charracters..Hate for Cersei, Love and concern for Arya as she got stronger, Pity for Jamie Lannister etc. and we kind of expected more at the end for some of the characters..it was just too quick and dare i say, lazy writing…why do i feel like they are in a big rush to end this show!? This show is the Flagship for HBO, has been since the very beginning..it needs to be treated wtih more respet on its way out…so yeah, as much as this was visually stunning to watch the big battle of Kings Landing, it was sorely lacking in any depth and satisfaction at seeing some of our most hated and/or beloved characters getting killed off. I say REDO lol..but i don’t have millions per episode these guys spend so i know it won’t happen…maybe they should have put the show on hiatus for a bit, let G.R.R.Martin catch up and actually base the final season on his books! Not sure if some of you know, but this season has NOT been written yet by MArtin…he is an executive producer yes, but this final season has been written by Hollywood writers, not by Martin which is why this season seems so lackluster and lazy compared to before when they WERE following the books and this show was at its pinnacle. sighs.

Iceman (1984)
gsaint 1 points 5 years ago.

If you like this you might also like:
Alpha 2018, Iceman - Der Mann aus dem Eis 2017, Quest for Fire 1981, and, Clan of the Cave Bear (also a book series).

Canuckian 1 points 4 years ago.

Seen Quest for Fire, it is one of my childhood faves just like this movie is..never heard of the others though, will gladly check them out, thanks for the reference! Cheers!

The Legend of Tarzan (2016)
Canuckian 1 points 3 years ago.

Every time i watch this, i like it more and more. Some spectacular CGI and i love how they built on the “legend” of Tarzan, being somewhat more than a man, yet still a man..if you watch it, you will see what i mean. Alexander Skaarsgard was the perfect casting for this imo, and Margot Robbie as Jane..well, I’ll watch her in anything (or nothing ;) )lol. I give this an easy 10.

Vikings (2013) S6 E3
Canuckian 1 points 4 years ago.

Damn…what an episode! When i first got into this show, i had never heard of it and thus, i didn’t expect much..i only started watching it when the first season was almost done, so i was able to binge almost the entire first season, and it totally BLEW my expectations away! I thought meh, i like Vikings lore so i will give it a chance, and i am SO glad i did!! I almost wish i had never heard of it until now, so i could binge all the seasons at once!! This IS my fave show right now..and i rank it up there with shows like Game of Thrones and The Expanse (i know, total polar opposites lol) I hope we get to see what happened to Floki after last season…I am sure when they DO bring Floki back (they HAVE to give some closure there, they can’t leave it like they did last season) he is going to come out with a BANG. Until next week then!

Legend of the Seeker (2008) S1 E3
Canuckian 1 points 4 years ago.

Even after only a couple episodes, this show has stayed fairly true to the source material, though very superficially. As usual, the books are SO much more in depth and have the latitude to delve farther into details and relationships between the characters than a 42 min show can..ie. the relationship between Zed and Adie for example…in the books, they knew each other quite well yet in the show, Zed has no clue who she is in the last episode…so yeah, stuff like that. As for the relationship between Richard and Kahlen, it took the entire first book before they became close like they already have in only 2 episodes, so it is DEFINITELY moving much faster. Still, it is kinda neat to see characters i know well on screen lol. Glad i found this show.

Legend of the Seeker (2008) S1 E4
Canuckian 1 points 4 years ago*.

It only took a few episodes, but i finally know why this show makes me feel nostialgic even though i have never seen it until now..it reminds me of Xena and Hercules!! It has almost the EXACT same production style and feel that those old 90’s shows had..and seeing Sam Raimi (he played Joxer in Xena) in the last episode sealed it for me lol. If you loved watching Xena and Hercules back in the day, then you will love this..it has the exact same campy feel as they did…oh, and I am REALLY glad that they didn’t gloss over or change the connection between Zed and Richard…honestly, i was worried they might have left that out since they are leaving out a LOT when it comes to Richard and those around him and their connections.

The Mandalorian (2019) S2 E7

When “B.F” told the Mandalorian that they might “recognize” his face, I almost choked LOL! If ONLY they knew! LOVED it!

Monster Hunter (2020)
Canuckian 1 points 3 years ago.

I was hooked on the OG Monster Hunter on my PSP back in the day and this is very loosely based on that..recognized a few weapons from the game and a couple monster names but that was about it. Other than that, this was a fairly action packed creature feature from start to finish, no deep thinking involved here. A pure popcorn flick if I ever saw one. Glad I waited for DVD copy. Cheers!

Wizards of the Lost Kingdom (1985)
Canuckian 1 points 5 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

LOL what a blast from the past. Hard to believe this is what High-Fantasy movies were back in the day …They probably spent more money on the extras then they did on all the costumes and props in this movie LOL. This would have been considered Grand Scale back 35 yrs ago lol. Still, i loved this movie as a little kid, there was really very little else like it since Hollywood or any movie production company didn’t really do Fantasy movies or take them seriously with a decent budget…this was as good as it got back then (with MAYBE the exception of BeastMaster with Marc Singer which was way better than this but with the same rough budget lol..just better actors :P )…then things changed when “Willow” came out in 1988 (only 3 yrs after this!!) starring a young Val Kilmer, Billy Barty and of course Warwick Davis from “Leprechaun” fameand directed by none other than Ron Howard!…that movie didn’t do the best in Theater, but it gained quite the cult following and still does to this day hold up pretty well storywise…outdated CGI considered, the story was well executed and it had some really good and funny moments in it lol. I couldn’t help but laugh to myself at how seriously i took this movie as a kid and then watching it now…wow LOL…the kid is about to get attacked by a Spider Woman thing and Kor just walks in, takes a look and says “eh, here ya go kid” all calm and cool, hands the kid a mini sword (meanwhile he was like 3 feet from it lol) and smiles and watches as Simon proceeds to stab it repeatedly just like it was any normal every day thing…like a proud “Dad” watching his kid do something for the first time, only this time it was watching Simon stab to death a Spider Monster thing while it was practically on top of him and about to eat him supposedly LOL…i don’t know, you have to watch it to see what I am saying and why it was so funny seeing how non-chalant they were about it LOL..ah man these kinds of movies have come a LONG way…thank you Ron Howard for making Willow and thank you Peter Jackson for giving us Lord of the Rings…hard to believe that this movie is even a part of that same genre, even decades before LOL

Legend of the Seeker (2008) S1 E8
Canuckian 1 points 4 years ago.

I remember the Denna story arc from the first book..it was brutal and one of my fave parts of the book Wizards First Rule…i hope they stay fairly true to it in this episode as it was a MAJOR event in Richards first months as Seeker in the books and has long lasting effects on the Seeker and MAN he becomes in the later books in the series…well, here’s to hoping…diving in…

An American Werewolf in London (1981)
Canuckian 1 points 4 years ago.

Shugarcat is absolutely correct…the “Transformation” scene from Man to Wolf in this movie was groundbreaking for its time..they showed EVERYTHING in detail from the feet and hands turning into wolflike appendages, the elongation of the face from Man to Wolf, the changing of the spine and ribs to a more 4 legged form….EVERYTHING was shown and the soundtrack (Credence Clearwater Revivals Bad Moon Rising) during that scene was PERFECT…everything about this movie including the top notch cast and acting, the entire soundtrack, the filmography…i can keep going on about all the things this film has going for it but i won’t…all i will say is watch it and decide for yourself if this isn’t one of the best and most “realistic” Werewolf movies made..and when i say “realistic”, i am referring to the transformation scene….so well done. For the record, the “sequel” to this movie titled An American Werewolf in Paris has NOTHING on this movie, has absolutely NO connection to this movie and is a VERY poor attempt at cashing in on the success of this near Cult classic movie.

Babylon 5 (1993) S3 E17
Canuckian 1 points 4 years ago.

This two part episode was awesome, love time travel stories and this one was good…love it when dots get connected. Think this is the best of this season so far!

Free Willy (1993)
Canuckian 1 points 4 years ago.

Definitely a childhood favorite of mine and will ALWAYS hold a special place for me, as it surely does for many others…there is just something about Free Willy that resonate with so many people. Great movie, was one of the best for 1993.

Annabelle Comes Home (2019)
Canuckian 1 points 4 years ago.

This was pretty good, not so scary as it was more suspenseful imo…i enjoy everything though that pertains to the Warrens Ed and Lorraine…as far as i am concerned, they were the real deal. Sad to hear Lorraine Warren died not too long ago at the age of 92…I wonder if she has all her answers now wherever she is..anyways, may she RIP. I give this a solid 7/10, and it ties nicely into the previous movies.

The Wheel of Time (2021)
Canuckian 1 points 2 years ago.

I saw the preview for this last week when it came out and I am SUPER pumped to see this!! There is SO much potential for this to be on par with Tolkiens live action Lord of the Rings Peter Jackson did! I have read this entire series of books, all 14 of them three times, and and am planning on a fourth read through before this series comes out. I pray they got as much of the story in this show as possible because imo, this is masterful storytelling that needs NO embellishment, or any additional “Hollywood” so to speak to make it ‘bigger’…we all know Hollywood loves to add its own flare, but this series doesn’t need it. Can’t WAIT!

The Dead Lands (2020)

They have yet to decide whether they will renewal the series according to tvdateswatch.com The show (season 1) started in January so I don’t think you’ll have to wait too long to find out

Jojo Rabbit (2019)
Canuckian 1 points 4 years ago.

Im an idiot for waiting so long to watch this..this movie is Amazing!. NOT what you were expecting at all. That one scene though..you know the one i’m talking about if you’ve seen this already..I nearly lost it. An EASY 10/10! I agree with others who say this Roman Griffin Davis kid who played Jojo was absolutely excellent in his role. This comes across as a bit Satirical but at the same time it isn’t…there were a couple of extremely intense moments in this movie that came out of nowhere, simply brilliant. This was great, highly recommended.

I loved that show, too, but it’s been so long since I watched it I don’t even remember what I was upset about. And I’m still depressed about Firefly.

LOL don’t even get me started about Firefly lol..at least they didn’t leave that on a cliffhangar like they did with Stargate Universe when they were just about to enter “The Gauntlet” lol
