In the wake of so many badly concieved redux re-imaginings that seem hellbent on turning any much loved film or TV series into moronic crap, I approached Dexter:New Blood with a certain amount of anxiety and dread.
I shouldn’t have worried, this is shaping up to be something special.

Collusion debunked by several Obama administration staff under oath including Susan Rice which even CNN reported on and can be found online on their website, bounties still not confirmed other than a “anonymous insider” and I’m sure the pentagon has denied these claims. Nice try though but this guy Maddow is due to have his show downgraded to fictional entertainment.

Cuties (2020)
dissock 21 points 3 years ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

Bluecannon - temporarily banned for calling someone an idiot. Can’t post for 24 hours. This is the workaround.

This is just going round and round. I called out hypocrisy. That doesn’t mean that I liked the film. I said that the film had a message that people aren’t getting. Again, doesn’t mean I like the film. People like YOU are taking it personal, jumping in, paraphrasing, and distorting. That’s a really interesting reaction to someone saying that a film has a message. Chill out.

Bluecannon : I DON’T care if you like the film or not. And I never said I liked it. What I said is that there’s a message in the film, and the faux uproar is overshadowing it. Why do I call it faux? You prove it when you said that an 11 year old exposes her breast. That’s not in the film. A US senator claimed it was, and you bought into it. And then, you’re spreading the misinformation along. It’s fake, because even those who obviously haven’t seen the film are getting all offended. It’s ridiculous.

Then on the other side of the spectrum, you’ve got ShiftyPickle paraphrasing.
I said preteens are discovering their bodies. He / she interprets that as meaning they’re exploring their sexuality. See what I mean? Distortion again.

The uproar about this film smacks of hypocrisy. No uproar when we see:

  • Toddlers in beauty pageants.
  • 7 year olds in child beauty pageants, wearing full makeup, hair and lashes and often hypersexualized.
  • Various dance competitions on tv where you see kids performing similar dance routines as that shown in the finale of Cuties.
  • The film Little Miss Sunshine with a 9-year old character doing a striptease to the music of Rick James Superfreak blaring in the background.

And NOW you want to show your outrage? Ummmm, okay. It seems people don’t complain seeing the end result of a dance routine featuring kids acting more adult than their ages (like I said, you see this stuff on television weekly in dance competition shows), but let’s bring out the pitchforks and clutch our pearls if a film shows the actual rehearsal process of the routine because…well…THAT just crosses the line (eye-roll).

Guess what? There’s an actual message in this film - maybe you’d pick up on that instead of focusing on the dance moves and its perceived titillation.

And FYI, in real life, 11 year old preteens are discovering their bodies. It’s called puberty. You can be shocked that a film DARE address the issue and dangers of preteens on social media - or you can accept the facts of life, that this IS the fact of life. But the faux puritanical outrage? Give me a break…

kamacausey 15 points 3 years ago*.

These comments are coming from people who don’t have kids or significant others. Full stop, and they probably shouldn’t. Tiktok and social media is the biggest influence on this younger generation. The only way you can hide it is to become amish. I skimmed through the movie watched the beginning and it’s pretty fricking relatable.
These comments are amazing especially how they make it political. Deep state lizard people…. lmao… ok. Guess what trump has sponsored child beauty pageants for past 40 years. Some of you need to seek real mental health specialists.

This is Going to Hurt (2022)
Mikeonalpha 1 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

yes great show, but i wonder whether a real doctor in these circumstances would really say the kinds of things he would say - not very professional. Also, it doesn’t paint a particularly positive picture of Britain’s NHS or the benefits of having a single payer health system. The staff and hospital look like they’’re continually overworked, underpaid and the hospital itself, always looks underfunded.

DW99 10 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

The NHS, which is a jewel, has been underfunded for years; that’s why so many employees are overwhelmed and in low spirits. And, keep in mind that it has been in existence for more than 70 years; most people alive today have no experience with a for-profit healthcare system, so they can’t compare the two, and some underfunding-related gripes are legit (no entity works when it’s underfunded). This is why it’s crucial to vote for pols who want to invest in the entire population; sadly, many people don’t.

With regard to his dialog: Perhaps keep n mind that this is a darkish comedy, not a docu.

rdmovieman 10 points 2 years ago*.

Not a huge Leonardo DiCaprio fan but this movie turned out to be pretty good. I say pretty good because it’s not good good, but it’s very watchable. It’s a little scary to watch something right now that’s a little close to home, with all of the asteroids and viruses and everything else going on in the world today. Really makes you think that if the world really did have an asteroid in Earth’s trajectory, is this really how the Earth would react. We’ve seen how people react towards other situations with the virus, and racism, and other things. But what would the world be like if we all knew that it was going to end. We really need to come together as a society and start doing something different, otherwise it’s going to end up just like this movie. You need to make the change, don’t make the change come to you.

This is SUCH a terrific 80ies Horror gem of a movie and without a doubt one of my all time favorite Zombie movies ever made as well. This one is a very clever homage the George Romero’s classic Zombie fare (many uninformed thought this was part of Romero’s classic zombie films..but it most definitely is not).
Terrific storyline, a lot of campy dark humor and great practical effects too. I always like to watch this one leading up to or ON Halloween night.

alicefell 10 points 2 years ago.

I put this into my calendar! I will be watching right soon. I realized this morning that for an actress who is now in her late 40s (she’ll be 50 this year), Toni Collette defies the stereotype of middle-aged women finding a hard time getting work. She is always working, gets her choice of plum roles, and WOWS every time! Recently, her turn in the series Unbelievable with Meritt Wever and Kaitlyn Dever, was a showcase of brilliant acting, from all three of these women! Collette can play any type of character and is one of the best out there! I ❤ her!

The whole movie was made to redeem Norman from the first film and they tried too hard. Not as good as original, but the violence was brutal and it’s cool to see him in action. They upped the stakes with the antagonists making them a military trained meth gang instead of young bumbling home invaders. It was a stretch since they came fully prepared not even knowing Norman’s background. Plus, it was too convenient how they just so happened to find this girl. The twist made this more unbelievable and not going to spoil it, but they could’ve found a better way to continue their drug business. You even see how the people involved think it’s wrong. I mean, he did kinda redeem himself, but at the end of the day there’s no taking back his sick turkey basting ways. If anything it showed he’s too obsessed with being a father.

It shouldn’t even take that long. Just finished watching whole season and it was good but pales in comparison to the many other superhero shows out. We’ve seen the whole superhero family dynamic before with similar characters of same powers. I really liked the action scenes and that it adds to comic with story opening up this Millarworld. A great watch for those who love this genre but nothing amazing we haven’t seen.
